Data Center Demands

Global data centers deploy 15+ million servers annually, each requiring slide rails. AI/GPU computing drives two trends: (1) servers getting heavier (NVIDIA DGX H100 = 57 kg in 4U), demanding 250-300 lb rails; (2) density increasing, requiring thinner rails to maximize U-space.

Specs driven by Dell, HPE, Supermicro and hyperscalers (AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta): tool-less mounting to 19-inch EIA-310-E racks (square/round hole), depth adjustability 680-1000 mm, lock-out at full extension, NEBS GR-63-CORE Zone 4 seismic, and increasingly acoustic performance (<40 dB(A)) as servers move to edge locations.

BWD supplies OEM rail kits to 5 server ODMs (Taiwan + mainland China), ~2 million pairs/year. Product line: 1U thin rails (100 lb, 0.8 mm steel), standard 2U/4U (150-250 lb, 1.2 mm), and heavy-duty GPU server rail (300 lb, 1.5 mm with reinforced tabs).

Emerging: cable management arm integration, front-accessible locking levers (lights-out DCs), Open Compute Project (OCP) rack compatibility.
