Determine Form Factor & Weight
1U (15–20 kg): 100 lb rail. 2U (20–35 kg): 150 lb rail. 4U storage (35–60 kg): 250 lb rail. GPU compute nodes can exceed 40 kg in 2U — always weigh actual config with all accelerators and drives installed.
Identify Rack Type
Square-hole (Dell/HPE standard), round-hole (legacy Telco), or threaded (older installations). BWD universal bracket adapts to all three with a single SKU.
Confirm Depth & Adjustment
Standard racks 600–1000 mm. BWD slides adjust 680–880 mm tool-less. Short-depth variant available for 450 mm networking/switch racks.
Seismic Requirement
California Zone 4, Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand: NEBS GR-63-CORE required. BWD seismic kit includes anti-walk brackets and reinforced retention clips.
Cable Management & Serviceability
CMA-compatible variant includes intermediate stop at 80% extension for cable routing. Overridable for full-extension maintenance. Ball-bearing disconnect for hot-swap server removal.
